What last names are in Gakuran

Last names in Gakuran are preset in-game names drawn from a fixed pool. Unlike first names, they cannot be typed in freely — the game picks one from the pool tied to your current ethnicity.

Japanese-name readings and meanings: the verified boundary

A Japanese surname found on a generic name website is not automatically a documented Gakuran surname. The Japanese Surnames Guide Page lists the Japanese pool. This page still does not attach romanization, readings, or meanings to those names without a verified in-game source.

A future verified appearance record can add one only when it identifies an actual in-game surname and preserves its source. It should then show the displayed name, reading, a cautious plain-English meaning, and the same reroll boundary: a documented surname still cannot be targeted or guaranteed on the next roll.

How last names roll through the reroll flow

  1. Open the in-game menu on the left and select STATS.
  2. On the Personal Data screen, click the circular reroll icon next to LAST NAME.
  3. The game rolls from the preset pool for your current ethnicity, not from a free-text entry. You cannot choose or guarantee one specific surname on the next reroll.
